The programme started with the welcome address of Dr. Dhanya T.P (Head,Department of Chemistry). Dr.Rajesh R.(Principal N S S College Ottapalam) presided the function. Inaugural address delivered by Dr. Sangeetha C.(Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Govt. Arts and Science College Calicut) who is a glorious aluminous of chemistry department. Prof. Manju B.L (IQAC coordinator) and Dr.Sindhu Ramachandran(Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry) delivered felicitation. Ms. Sarika Prasannan(Secretary - Chemistry club ) gave vote of thanks.

The CONTECH examination organized by ACT (Association of Chemistry Teachers) in association with HBSCSE was conducted in N.S.S College Ottapalam on31st January 2020 between11.00am –1.00pm. It was simultaneously conducted in 9 colleges in Kerala and more than 50 colleges all over India. Dr.Sudha E., Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry was the college co-ordinator. 20 Students participated in the examination; 18 students from final year B.Sc and 2 students from second-year B.Sc Chemistry.16 students scored above 30% and become eligible for national level certificates. Participated students commented that it was a very good exercise for them before facing JAM and other University entrance examinations for PGcourses.

The second technical session was handled by Dr.SAVITHA K.U, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, NSS Hindu College Changanacherry with the topic ‘ELECTROCHEMISDRY: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES.
Seminar mainly focused on the higher studies and career opportunities after graduating in Chemistry. Students could interact with the resource persons so that they could clarify their doubts regarding various fields and opportunities available for them.
A humble effort was carried out by Department of Chemistry , NSS College Ottapalam, to meet the increased demand for hand sanitizer in the wake of COVID -19 pandemic.Teachers of the Department prepared hand sanitizer as a part of BREAK THE CHAIN campaign and distributed to staff and students of college and to the public. Sanitizer was prepared as per WHO formulation.

‘Chem Expo’ CHEMISTRY EXHIBITION on 28-02-2019
Chemistry exhibition as a part of BIG BANG’Science Expo k19 ‘organized by science club was conducted on 28-02-2019.
Ten groups of students demonstrated various interesting experiments for the staff and students of our own and nearby institutes. It included still models, Charts, live demo experiments. Chemistry behind each observation is explained by the students.
ICT enabled quiz programme on periodic table in connection with 150 years celebration of periodic table on 1-03-2019
Chemistry club, organized an ICT enabled quiz programme for students using an online learning platform ‘KAHOOT’. About 40 students participated in the programme.
